Ravens rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson finds himself in a good situation in Baltimore. Not only does he not have the pressure of starting right away, but he also has the ideal mentor for his playing style in Robert Griffin III.

Like Jackson, RGIII came into the league with a reputation for being a dynamic runner. Unsurprisingly, he’s already passed along some pointers to the rookie on how to utilize that part of his game in the next level.

“What I tried to tell him mostly is, in this league, things happen faster,” said Griffin per Jamison Hensley of ESPN. “It's not that he can't. He has to be smart when he does run. I feel like he's my little brother, but I'm not going to try as the big brother to tell him, ‘Don't do this.' He's going to have to learn some things on his own. I think he'll figure it out pretty quickly. He'll still be the dynamic player that he is.”

Jackson wants to prove he is indeed capable of playing quarterback right away. But the big challenge he faces is to show that he can be an effective NFL quarterback without having to use his legs as often as he did in college. That means improving other facets of his game, like accuracy and throwing mechanics, which could still come in time.

Unfortunately for RGIII, he was never quite able to adjust his game once the knee injuries sapped his elite athleticism. Hopefully, Jackson won’t suffer a similar fate and can use Griffin’s advice about running to maximize his potential as a player.
