The Baltimore Ravens selected Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and while he won't be competing for the starting job, he hopes to contribute in some way.

“One of the things I want to do here is provide value for anything the coaching staff needs me to do,” said McSorley, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. “Wherever I can fit in and help this team win games, that’s my mentality.”

McSorley is not a great passer, but he is a dynamic athlete.

He is coming off a senior campaign in which he threw for 2,530 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 53.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 124.6. In addition, he rushed for 798 yards and 12 scores, averaging 4.7 yards per attempt.

For a Ravens team that likes to employ unique packages on offense with Lamar Jackson, McSorley could certainly have a role in some situations. A duo of Jackson and McSorley in the ground game would certainly throw defenses off balance.

While McSorley had a rough senior year throwing the football, he had some good seasons at Penn State in previous years. In his junior campaign, he threw for 3,570 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 picks while completing 66.5 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 162.4.

Baltimore won 10 games this past season, sneaking up on the Pittsburgh Steelers to win the AFC North Division title. The Ravens then went on to lose to the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild card round of the playoffs.
