On Wednesday morning, the Baltimore Ravens finally found their backup for quarterback Joe Flacco by signing former Offensive Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III to a one-year, $1 million deal.

Griffin missed the entire 2017 season after going 1-4 in five starts for the Cleveland Browns the year prior. After two strong seasons with the Washington Redskins to start his career, injuries began to pile up and ultimately took away from the explosiveness that once made him one of the most exciting young prospects in the NFL.

The Ravens are hoping Griffin won't see the field much with Flacco in the fold, but should their starting signal-caller go down, Griffin is far from a sure thing with his questionable durability. So, not surprisingly, the addition of RGIII won't impact Baltimore possibly taking a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Here are general manager Ozzie Newsome and head coach John Harbaugh's responses when asked if the Griffin signing puts less of a premium on selecting a QB in one of the later rounds of the draft.

(NEWSOME) “First of all, from my perspective, no. No, we will grade the players, set the board, and if there’s a quarterback that we feel that we can pick at any of our picks, we’ll do it. Coach?”

(HARBAUGH) “Yes, I feel the same way. Pick the best player for us, and there are a lot of things that go into that. Could be a quarterback, could be a defensive tackle.”

While Harbaugh makes it clear that the Ravens will target the player they feel is the best available at every spot, it makes sense for Baltimore to get another young quarterback with Flacco already at 33-years-old and the uncertainty of Griffin. Luckily for them, there are a plethora of talented gunslingers in this year's crop.
