The Baltimore Ravens’ defense has not lost a step since last season, especially cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who is an important part of Don Martindale’s defense. And that spells trouble for Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns early in their Week 1 matchup.

Almost three minutes into the game between the Ravens and the Browns, a Mayfield pass which was intended for wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge was picked off by Humphrey near midfield, giving the ball to Baltimore.

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens high-powered offense would put that interception to good use, as he found tight end Mark Andrews for a 5-yard touchdown with 7:41 left in the first quarter to give Baltimore an early 7-0 lead over Cleveland.

The 24-year old Humphrey is coming off a standout season for Baltimore in 2019. He had three interceptions in 16 games played for the Ravens on his way to being selected to the Pro Bowl and being named a First Team All Pro.

Mayfield, meanwhile, passed for 3.827 yards and 22 touchdowns in 16 games for the Browns last season as a sophomore, but also had 21 interceptions. This was an increase from the 25-year old’s rookie season, which saw him commit just 14 interceptions.

The Ravens are looking to continue their dominant run last season, which saw them finish with a 14-2 record and the AFC’s top seed. The Browns, however, were one of just two teams who were able to defeat them in 2019, which was a 40-25 win in Week 4.  Cleveland, on the other hand, is looking to avoid a repeat of its 2019 season, when it finished with a 6-10 record and miss the playoffs for the 16th consecutive season.
