The New England Patriots were getting close to the red-zone against the Baltimore Ravens facing a 17-13 deficit with 2:38 left to play in the third quarter. Instead of continuing their drive, Julian Edelman fumbled the ball trying to gain extra yards and Marlon Humphrey returned it all the way for a touchdown.

The Patriots’ defense has been very difficult to score against this season and that’s why it’s so important for opposing teams to create scoring opportunities outside of just their offense. A perfect way to accomplish that is through a fumble recovery for a touchdown just like Humphrey accomplished.

Managing to receive a touchdown from their defense proved to be crucial for the Ravens in managing the game during its later stages. It helped take some pressure off Lamar Jackson to have to carry the team to a win and that’s all you can ask for from a defense.
