Rice’s net worth in 2021 is around $13 million according to Celebrity Net Worth.

He played high school football at New Rochelle High School in his hometown of New Rochelle, New York. He led the school to a state title in his junior year and he holds the state record for yards in a single game with 462 yards on 42 carries.

Rice committed to play NCAA football at Rutgers University. He played with the Scarlet Knights for three years where he made 49 rushing touchdowns on 4,926 yards in 38 games played. He was named to the All-Big East First Team twice and the First Team All-American in 2007.

After his collegiate career, Ray Rice was picked by the Ravens with the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $3.1 million rookie contract.

He played mainly as a substitute running back in his freshman season but was awarded the starting running back role in his sophomore year. Rice rushed for his first NFL touchdown during their game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 of the 2009 season.

Rice was named to his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro Second Team after an impressive second-year season where he had more playing time and chances to prove himself.

During the 2011 season, Rice helped the Ravens reach the AFC Championship but was held in check en route to a loss against the New England Patriots. Despite that, he played the best season of his career as he made a total (rushing and receiving) of 15 touchdowns and 2,068 yards. He was named to his second Pro Bowl and All-Pro Second Team. Rice was also ranked no. 22 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players that season.

Prior to the 2012 season, Rice signed a five-year, $35 million deal to stay with the Ravens. He was an integral part of their postseason run as they booked a ticket to the Super Bowl after defeating the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

In Super Bowl XLVII, the Ravens faced off against the San Francisco 49ers. Rice had 20 carries for 59 yards as he helped the Ravens defeat the 49ers with a score of 34-31, giving him his first Super Bowl ring. He was also named to the Pro Bowl for the third time and was ranked 13th by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2013.

Unfortunately, that season would be his last in the NFL. A video emerged on February 15, 2014, involving Rice and his then-fiancee, Janay Palmer, where they got into a heated argument that resulted in Rice hitting her after Palmer spat on his face. This event led to Rice’s suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy and he was eventually released by the Ravens.

Rice appealed the suspension on the grounds that they suspended him twice for the same offense, a violation of league rules. On November 28, 2014, the NFL announced that Rice won his appeal and that he would be reinstated.

As a free agent in 2016, Rice vowed to donate his whole season’s salary to domestic violence charities should a team acquire him. Unfortunately, he was left unsigned.

In 2018, then-Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was involved in a similar incident which led to Rice giving out a helping hand in terms of understanding the severity of their actions.

“Peer-to-peer, I would definitely try to help him figure out, ‘How can we start dealing with the underlying problems in your life?'” Rice said. “Because he has a long life to live, this will be a defining moment, but it shouldn’t be the moment that defines you.”

In the same year, Rice announced his retirement. In six short seasons in the NFL, he earned $28,135,176, according to Spotrac.

In 2013, he was listed no. 33 in Forbes’ World’s Highest-Paid Athletes list. Aside from his NFL salary, Rice earned around $1.6 million in endorsements with brands like Nike and Verizon.

Rice was also known for his community service as he was voted as Baltimore’s most charitable person in 2012. He usually partners with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and supports the effort in cyberbullying prevention and providing aid for the homeless.

Ray Rice didn’t finish his career the way he wanted to but definitely showed that he was a crucial part of the Ravens during his six-year stint with the team.
