J.J. Watt's season may not be done, after all. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Houston Texans superstar defensive end may make his return to action in the playoffs if his team makes it there.

Watt tore his pectoral in a Week 8 win over the Oakland Raiders. Following the news, the Texans placed him on the injured reserve. However, they are holding out hope that he may return to action. Houston is saving its second injured reserve/designation to return spot for Watt. Per Rapoport, there is real optimism from both sides that he will return.

There is a chance that Watt could be back in three months or less after tearing his pectoral. There is even a chance that he can return for the season finale, a Week 17 bout with the Tennessee Titans in Houston.

According to Rapoport, Watt is blowing the expectations of rehab out of the water. He could go out there on Sunday to play the New England Patriots if that was realistic and rules of the injured reserve didn't apply.

Naturally, if Watt were to return, the Texans would get a massive boost in a pass-rush that has missed him since the injury. Before suffering the Week 8 ailment, he led the NFL in quarterback hits with 20. He racked up four sacks in eight games.

Watt's return to action is not definite. However, there is a chance that it will happen. Considering most figured his season was once gone, a chance is better than nothing.
