Boston Red Sox second baseman Trevor Story’s woes at the plate continued during the series finale against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora slotted in Story to bat second in the lineup, and the veteran infielder failed to record a hit in four at-bats. He also struck out three times on the day.

From being booed during the series finale against the Los Angeles Angels to striking out a total of 12 times, Story had quite a homestand to forget over the past week.

In speaking following the 3-2 loss to the White Sox, Cora was asked whether he would consider moving Story down in the lineup. For the moment, this option is not off the table.

“We’ll see where we’re at Tuesday,” Cora said. “We have to make adjustments. It’s an adjustment game. … Whatever lineup we have Tuesday is the lineup we’re going to have Tuesday and we have to be better.”

Story has batted in the top two spots in Boston's lineup a total of 17 times so far this season, coupled with one start at the No. 3 hole and six starts at the No. 6 spot.

Overall, Cora is not pinpointing the blame on Story for Boston’s sluggish start to the campaign on offense.

“If you start talking about certain guys, I don’t know,” Cora said. “As an offense, we’re not doing too much. When he was hitting sixth or he’s leading off, we haven’t done much. We cannot look at one guy to get the offense going. And he knows he’s working.

“We know he’s going to be better. Right now it doesn’t look great but we trust the player.”

The Red Sox will open up a two-game road series with the Atlanta Braves beginning on Tuesday.
