The Boston Red Sox made headlines after outfielder Hunter Renfroe had made some interesting comments about the MLB and their COVID-19 testing protocols. But, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Red Sox have doubled back and insist that they are doing everything right and following the protocols that are put into place.
Red Sox correct record after Renfroe mistakenly said MLB told team to stop testing:“We have been following MLB’s COVID-19 protocols all season long. We have consulted closely with them on everything we’ve done and continue to test and their medical staff has been very supportive”

So, it's a bit confusing in light of the Red Sox outfielders comments on Thursday. In case you missed it, Renfroe basically said that the MLB told them to stop testing, per Christian Fauria and Lou Merloni.
“MLB basically told us to stop the testing and just treat the symptoms. We're like “No. We're gonna figure out what's going and keep this thing under control.”
If Renfroe's comments are in fact true, that could put the league in a bit of a sticky situation regarding the whole testing protocols.
With the 2021 MLB season reaching its end and the postseason almost here, whatever is going on in the MLB as far as testing needs to get ironed out, and surely Renfroe wouldn't have fabricated comments such as that one.
This will definitely be a developing story in a bit of a back and forth between the Red Sox and the MLB.
