Gerrit Cole is an MLB All-Star who many consider to be the best pitcher in the game. The New York Yankees right-hander has established himself as a force on the mound. However, he has yet to figure out Boston Red Sox' superstar Rafael Devers.

According to Statmuse, Devers owns a .304/.360/1.087 with a 1.447 OPS against him. That equates to 7-23 with 6 home runs and 15 RBIs. In other words, some may consider Rafael Devers to be the father of Gerrit Cole.

Devers commented on his success against the Yankees star hurler, per MLB insider Hector Gomez.

“Gerrit Cole is one of the best pitchers in the MLB. I've had good luck against him, that's [just] the game. I've simply had the joy of hitting with some good pitches against him.”

Rafael Devers took the humble approach in his response. He credited his impressive showing vs. Gerrit Cole to good luck. But it's certainly more than that.

The Red Sox third baseman simply happens to be one of MLB's best players. He was elected to start at third base for the AL ahead of the 2022 MLB All-Star game. This season, Devers is slashing .326/.383/.588 with a .971 OPS. He has also clubbed 19 home runs and drove in 51 runs.

And Devers continues to terrorize Gerrit Cole and the Yankees. Boston trails New York in the standings. However, something tells me the Yankees won't have any desire to see the Red Sox in the playoffs. And if Gerrit Cole has to face Rafael Devers in a postseason series… that could be a major problem for New York.
