If you missed the incredible NBA Christmas Day preview, then you totally missed out on a treat. The Cleveland Cavaliers battled the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena for a showdown that went down to the wire. The Warriors ended up capturing the victory with great performances from Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. The Boston Celtics took on the Washington Wizards and were defeated after John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter stole the game away with great defense and brilliant shooting. In one interesting factoid, the Celtics and the Cavaliers have been eliminated from contention of tying the best regular season record in the NBA, set by the Golden State Warriors.

The Reddit community had plenty of hilarious responses to this random snippet, which is definitely interesting since both teams probably never even tried to tie the record in the first place. Here are five funny reactions to both the Celtics and Cavaliers receiving their disqualifying 10th loss.

5. It's time to tank

Sh-t man time to tank the season now.

You have to love the sarcastic response that this user posted on Reddit. Since the Celtics and Cavaliers received their 10th loss making it impossible for the two teams to tie the Warriors' 73-9 record, it's better that the two teams tank the rest of the season and start fresh for a new rebuilding phase. After all, both teams are chasing NBA titles, and breaking the Warriors' attainable record is no greater indicator of how the two teams will beat the Warriors if they should meet in June. It's simple. If you tie the 73-9 record, your teams will be just as good as the 2015-2016 Warriors team, and who could beat them? Well, the Cavaliers did, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Since both teams failed to tie the NBA record, it proves that they are inferior to the Warriors and won't stand a chance if they should meet the Warriors in the NBA Finals. Go ahead and give the title to the Golden State Warriors. It's over. Start tanking. While only half of that statement was sarcastic, you have to agree that the two teams still have a chance at the NBA title — nine losses or not.

4. What a random series of events

This is…random

This user is correct. No one was expecting these two teams to break the Warriors' record. In fact, no team may ever break the record. It just shows how dominant the Warriors were and still are. Granted, the Cavaliers and Celtics are having great seasons, but neither are as impressive and historic as the 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors. The hilarious thing about this response is that the user visibly acknowledges that the fact is true but strangely doesn't make sense. In most NBA games, statistics and factoids are revealed after the game to reveal how the winning team turned the tides in their favor.

This one just didn't make sense. Imagine telling this to your friends or coworkers that the Celtics and the Cavaliers have lost the opportunity to tie the Warriors' record. You might get a load of hilarious and confused responses.

3. Is this a bot?

Lol, this seems like a bot, because anyone with a functioning human brain knows that neither of those teams were going to beat that record this season.

This response isn't surprising. You have to wonder who does all of the posting on Reddit nowadays, anyway. Obviously, this is news to whoever posted the factoid in the first place. They must have thought that the Cavaliers and Celtics had a chance at tying the Warriors' record. Well, that wasn't going to happen. The Cavaliers had no chance at tying the record when the season began, especially starting in the funk that they did. Even so, they would have had to win all of the rest of their games in the season to have had a shot. That wasn't going to happen, even if Lady Luck suited up and joined the Cavaliers.

The Celtics, on the other hand, starting this season great. They played well without their starting small forward, Gordon Hayward, and they look to be title contenders in the first half of the NBA season. Though, let's be frank. A team of the Celtics caliber had no shot at tying the record either. In that case, it must have been a bot after all.

2. The Raptors fans are happy

We going for 73

In case you didn't know, the Toronto Raptors have moved to the 1st seed in the Eastern Conference following the Celtics' loss to the Wizards. This is a happy Christmas day for Raptors' fans, especially since the Raptors have been underrated all season. The Raptors are 23-8 and are the third-best team in the NBA. Technically, they are still in running to tie the Warriors 73-9 record. It won't happen, but you have to like the confidence of this Raptors fan. He even threw a little shade towards the Celtics and Cavaliers, stating that his team is still in it.

Why does it feel like news such as this should have been posted on this thread in the first place? Most fans probably didn't know that the Raptors were doing so well this season. In any case, it's great to know that the Raptors have a chance to make history.

1. Atlanta is going for it

Hawks still in it

The Atlanta Hawks are 8-25 and are the worst team in the NBA. They have been one of the most horrible teams to watch this season, and this Reddit post just threw more shade and disappointment in the eventual lottery team's direction. Ironically, the Hawks have eight wins, which is lower than the Warriors' nine losses. That's pitiful, but it's hilarious. On the flip side, the Hawks do have a chance at making history. They have a legitimate chance at having fewer wins than the Warriors' losses. You have to give creativity points to this user for this post.

Interestingly, these posts hinted that the Celtics and Cavaliers had a chance at making history. It's great to see some funny reactions to fans who thought otherwise.
