The Washington Football Team generated some hype with the addition of defensive end Chase Young up front this offseason. It seems the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is impressed with what he is seeing from quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

There had been plenty of speculation regarding Haskins' future this offseason. Young said during an appearance on Good Morning Football that this did not prevent him from putting in the necessary work (via Yahoo Sports/NBC Sports Washington):

“[Fans] are getting a guy who works hard, is a crazy competitor, as you've seen this offseason, Dwayne has been preparing like a pro,” Young said. “Coming out on the field at practice, you can just tell it's a different type of Dwayne.”

Young added that Haskins is also stepping up as a leader in the locker room for Washington.

“Dwayne's been showing a lot of leadership talking to the guys and bringing the energy every day,” he said. “I'm definitely excited about what Dwayne will do this season.”

Young's comments are an encouraging sign of the progress Haskins has made throughout an unprecedented offseason due to the coronavirus (COVID-29) pandemic. The potential emergence of both franchise players on each side of the ball should help pay huge dividends for this team formerly known as “Redskins” moving forward.

It is no secret that Haskins is coming off a rough rookie year. Although the new regime in Washington led by Ron Rivera acknowledged the initial uncertainty under center, they decided to roll with Haskins, they decided to give him another chance to prove himself and used the second pick to draft a generational pass-rusher in Young instead.

The time has now come for Haskins to show that they made the right choice.
