Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson appears to set records nearly every time he takes the field, with Sunday's contest against the Green Bay Packers being no different. During the game, Peterson became the sixth rusher in NFL history to have accumulated 14,000 yards on the ground, joining a group that includes Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Frank Gore, Barry Sanders and Curtis Martin.

Peterson has seen his role in the Washington offense fluctuate throughout the season, but after scampering into the end zone last week versus Carolina, he crossed the goal line for the second straight week against the Packers, giving him rushing touchdowns in back-to-back games for the first time since Weeks 15 and 16 of the 2015 season.

It has been an unquestionably historic career for Peterson, who finds himself among the greatest rushers in league history on the yards leaderboard. A three-time rushing champion, he has also been a seven-time Pro Bowl and four-time All-Pro selection. He also serves as the only running back since 2006 to have won the league's MVP Award.

How much longer Adrian Peterson is able to pick up yards on the ground remains to be seen, but his current role with the Redskins as part of a running back committee seems to be his best chance of continuing his success moving forward. At age 34, Peterson still has time to continue climbing the all-time rushing ranks, with a solid chance of passing Martin before the season is out, with less than 100 yards separating him from fifth in league history.
