Adrian Peterson got involved in the Trent Williams situation yesterday. The Washington Redskins running back threw another curveball into the league's most bizarre situation at the moment. We heard earlier this week that Williams was staying away from the team's mandatory practices due to his unhappiness with Washington's medical staff.

It was originally believed that Williams wanted a new contract, but he apparently thinks the medical staff failed him. Speaking to the media, Peterson said he hadn't heard anything of the sort from Williams, per Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com.

“I don’t know where that came from. I talk to Trent all the time and that’s not something I’ve heard come out of his mouth. So I don’t know,” Peterson said.

As David Smith notes, Peterson is close friends with Williams, so this is significant.

It doesn't mean the reporting isn't true, but it's enough to raise eyebrows nonetheless. Redskins coach Jay Gruden also said recently that he hadn't heard that, or anything really, from Williams.

Williams is yet to publicly confirm the news, so until he does Washington fans can hold out hope that it isn't true. He's one of the league's better tackles, so it would be a devastating blow if they were forced to trade or release him like he reportedly demanded.

Washington's offensive line was decimated by injuries last year, and they also just let top reserve tackle Ty Nsheke walk in free agency, so they don't really have anyone to replace Williams with. The Redskins just can't seem to ever catch a break, and this is just the latest example of that.
