It was an important day on Friday as Eli Manning officially retired from the NFL, and Adrian Peterson of the Washington Redskins was among the players to congratulate the quarterback. While congratulating the New York Giants quarterback, Peterson also took a jab at Tom Brady on Twitter.

With Manning retiring, the argument on whether or not he is a Hall of Famer has been rekindled. Of course, Manning only has a Canton-worthy resume due to him being able to defeat Brady twice in the Super Bowl. The veteran running back mentioned those in his tweet toward Manning.

The first Super Bowl that Manning won came in the 2007 season against the then-undefeated Patriots. Heading into the Super Bowl, the Patriots were expected to defeat Manning and the Giants with ease. Instead, Manning made a few jaw-dropping plays to pull off the upset.

The second Super Bowl victory for Manning came just four years after the first one. Yet again, Manning and New York were considered to be underdogs versus an inferior New England roster—led by Brady.

Without Manning, Brady would have eight Super Bowl rings in his legendary career. That is something that Peterson and other players are thankful for when it comes to Manning.

As for Peterson, he is turning 35-years-old and is undoubtedly nearing the end of his career. When it's all said and done, Peterson is going to be considered as one of the best running backs to ever play in the NFL. While being one of the greatest running backs of all time, Peterson proved on Friday that he can be a comedian as well.
