Cornerback Bashaud Breeland is still searching for a new team after his deal with the Carolina Panthers was unfortunately voided due to a foot injury. He likely won’t have the option to return to his old team, the Washington Redskins, as they are not expected to bring him back for the upcoming season, per NBC Washington’s JP Finlay.

Breeland suffered a cut on his foot last month which required a skin graft to repair, which was why the Panthers decided to back out on the three-year, $24 million deal. It was initially reported that it may take him a few months to fully recover from that injury.

Breeland, 26, played 15 games (15 starts) for Washington last season, making 57 total tackles with 19 passes defended and one interception, which he took 96 yards for a touchdown. He played 60 out of a possible 64 games in four years with the Redskins, collecting eight interceptions with seven fumbles forced and 59 passes defended.

It seems unlikely that Breeland will be able to catch on with a team until he proves he’s fully recovered from that injury. But with his decent track record, there will likely be some team eager to give him a chance when he does get back to 100 percent.

As for the Redskins, they also lost top slot corner Kendall Fuller this offseason after he was included in the Alex Smith trade. They still have Josh Norman, Quinton Dunbar, Fabian Moreau, and Josh Holsey on the depth chart, as well as former Cowboys corner Orlando Scandrick.

However, it remains to be seen who will take up Breeland's starting spot opposite Norman. They may look to address that position during this week's draft.
