Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins managed to steal the show in Week 2 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Regardless, it is looking more likely that quarterback Case Keenum will be the starter going into the 2019 NFL season.

Keenum finished the night completing 3-of-7 passes for 52 yards. According to ESPN's John Keim, he is confident that the best is yet to come:

“We don't want to be at our best right now. Going into games I want to be perfect and I want to make all the right checks.. and score touchdowns every time. But this is a process. We haven't tapped into even a portion of our potential as an offense.”

Washington put an emphasis on shoring up their depth under center this offseason with the acquisition of Keenum and the selection of Dwayne Haskins with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. As a result, many expected there to be quite a battle for the starting job through training camp and the preseason.

Unfortunately, quarterback Colt McCoy has not been in the mix much as of late after missing both preseason games thus far due to leg soreness. Head coach Jay Gruden indicated that he would like to pick a starter following the team's third preseason game, which means time is quickly running out for him to make his bid.

With Washington looking to take a patient approach with Haskins' development, Keenum appears to be primed to take over as the starter heading into the regular season. His comments indicate that he has high expectations for both himself and this offense.
