The Washington Redskins have a new regime in place with Ron Rivera becoming the team's next head coach this offseason. Due to Rivera and other factors, cornerback Kendall Fuller was ecstatic to make a return to the Redskins in free agency.

“The young core players that they have there on offense and defensive side of the ball,” Fuller said, via The Athletic. “When you’re a DB, and you’re looking at the front seven, you know how important that is for you and your success. Looking at the front seven that they have up there, what they’re trying to build and be a part of. Once they called, and my agent talked to me, I couldn’t wait to jump on it.”

Back in 2016, the Redskins drafted Fuller in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Then, prior to the 2018 season, Washington traded Fuller to the Kansas City Chiefs in the trade that sent Alex Smith to the nation's capital.

Over the course of his two seasons in Kansas City, Fuller combined for 131 tackles, 14 pass breakups, and two interceptions. With the Chiefs limited financially, Fuller turned his attention to reuniting with the team that drafted him.

Near the beginning of free agency, the Virginia Tech product signed a four-year, $40 million contract with the Redskins. Fuller, who is coming off of a Super Bowl victory with the Chiefs, believes that Washington possesses the pieces to do the same.

Despite Fuller's optimism, it's likely going to take some time for the Redskins to become a contender in the NFC. Nevertheless, the talented cornerback was thrilled to get an opportunity to return to Washington in 2020.
