Rookie defensive end Chase Young is expected by many to anchor the Washington Football Team's defensive line for the years to come. However, the former Ohio State Buckeye was stopped in his tracks during his first training camp with the team. His recently sustained hip injury continues to limit him from fully participating in the team's build-up for the upcoming season.

“It’s definitely frustrating,” Young said, via the Washington Post. “But I got to roll with the punches. Right now, my biggest focus is just doing everything in my power to get my hip back right. That’s what I’m doing every day, and I’m doing my best on the field to get mental reps.”

Washington head coach Ron Rivera doesn’t seem to echo the same frustration that Young felt. Instead, he praised the rookie for his effort in practice.

“He’s done a great job showing us he’s capable of that,” Rivera said. “It’s unfortunate he missed a couple of days with his [hip flexor], but he’s had a good couple of days.”

Although he hasn't fully recovered from his injury, the 21-year old player took a step forward when he played some snaps in nine-on-nine and 11-on-11 drills. He hopes to fully participate in the coming days. Sophomore defensive end Montez Sweat and 10-year veteran Ryan Kerrigan got reps with the first team in lieu of Young's absence.

Despite the injury, Chase Young is still expected to make a big impact on the rebuilding team in his rookie season. Washington fans can only hope that their prized recruit will have a swift recovery and makes it back in time for Week 1 proceedings.
