With Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots, the Washington Redskins are 0-5. For their head coach, Jay Gruden, that very well could mean his hot seat gets removed no seat, as rumors are swirling of a possible firing in the plans.

For running back Chris Thompson — who said Gruden has been in his corner since he arrived in Washington — Gruden's potential departure is a touchy subject. “It's tough,” the back said, via John Keim of ESPN, with tears rolling down his cheeks.

Thompson has been with Washington for all of his career, including the last six years with Gruden. In that span, he has seen a role every season, despite a lengthy injury history. Under Gruden, Thompson has rushed for 1,102 yards and five touchdowns on 229 attempts and has caught 190 passes for 1,645 yards and 10 touchdowns.

After falling to 0-5, Gruden doesn't sound optimistic about his job with the Redskins. In the post-game press conference, the coach said he has received “ample opportunities” yet has failed to succeed on Sundays. He said he hadn't heard an update on if he will stay around or not.

“If the key works Monday, I’ll keep working,” Gruden said.

In addition to Gruden's statements, Mitchell Tischler of NBC Sports Washington caught Washington owner Dan Snyder and his henchman/President Bruce Allen leaving FedEx Field in a hurry. Specifically, the two did so “fastest I can ever remember,” per Tischler.

Gruden's future in Washington doesn't sound like much of a future; from his players, his statements and his bosses' actions.
