The Washington Football Team has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently and that may continue. While the franchise continues to discuss the possible routes to change the team name, owner Dan Snyder is suing an Indian media company to court, alleging defamation.

According to the New York Times, Snyder is going to court with a media company for publishing defamatory rumors to damage his image. One of the defamatory rumors includes Snyder being named as someone who was associated with the known sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased financier and abuser with ties to numerous political and wealthy individuals.

The news site that Snyder is suing is called Media Entertainment Arts Worldwide. Furthermore, the website is based in India and Snyder claims that they used posts from Reddit to compile their articles. Rizwan A. Qureshi, Snyder's lawyer, released a statement on the matter.

“While Mr. Snyder understands that truthful criticism about the Washington Football Team comes with the territory of owning the team, malicious criminal allegations cross the line. He intends to hold all of those responsible for this defamation accountable, and will donate any proceeds recovered in the lawsuit to charity.”

Altogether, Snyder is suing the media company for a total of $10 million. As his lawyer pointed out, Snyder will donate the proceeds from the lawsuit to charity.

Of course, nearly a month ago, some members of Washington's organization were named in sexual assault allegations by former female employees. Even though Snyder wasn't named in the allegations, it took place in his own building. As a result, some people have called for Snyder to sell the team.

In recent months, Washington has been involved in multiple off-the-field incidents. And with Snyder's latest lawsuit, it doesn't look like that trend will end any time soon.
