The Washington Redskins may have called it quits this season and are closing up shop when it comes to competing for playoff positions. They will be using the remainder of the season as a training ground for their young athletes, and one of the key players for the future is the recently activated Derrius Guice.

Adam Schefter reported the move that signifies the Redskins' coming focus for the remainder of the year.

Guice has not played in a Redskins game ever since Week 1 in a bitter loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. He only made 10 carries for 18 yards before suffering a meniscus tear in his right knee. He's taken the time since then to fully recover his knee and come back as healthy as he could. He's going to be used by Bill Callahan in order to get him some much-needed experience.

Moreover, he isn't the only player who'll be tapped by the interim head coach. It's also believed that Dwayne Haskins will be getting more snaps to get himself used to the speed of NFL defenders.

Callahan claimed that he's still using the bye week to determine who will be the team's starting quarterback moving forward.

He made that crystal clear, per a Bleacher Report article:

“I just want to be real clear that I want to take time this week. We have some time in the bye to go back and look and evaluate and look at ourselves—self-scout evaluation—look at personnel evaluations. Again, like I said, I'm just going to go back to my original statement and take my time and make the decision next Monday.”

With the season now being handed to the rookies, Washington fans will be hoping to see spirited football from them.
