The good news is that Derrius Guice's knee injury could have been worse. The bad news is that the Washington Redskins running back could be done for the year.

After undergoing an MRI to determine the severity of the knee injury Guice suffered during his team's loss to the Green Bay Packers this past Sunday, it was revealed that Guice merely sustained an MCL sprain with no structural damage, according to John Keim of ESPN.com.

This is essentially best-case scenario for Guice, even if it likely means he won't be back for any of the Redskins' final three games of the season.

The problem is that this is just the latest knee issue for Guice in what has been a two-year NFL career full of them.

Washington selected Guice in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but he proceeded to tear his ACL during the preseason of his rookie year. To make matters worse, Guice developed an infection after surgery and was required to undergo three additional procedures to correct the problem.

He made his debut in Week 1 of this season, but it didn't last long, as the 22-year-old went down with a torn meniscus that kept him sidelined until Week 11.

In the five games he has played this season, Guice has rushed for 245 yards and a couple of touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per carry, with most of his production coming in Week 13 when he gashed the Carolina Panthers for 129 yards and both of his scores.

Washington is just 3-10 on the year.
