Veteran free-agent defensive back Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will visit with the Washington Redskins while testing the open market.

We know this because Ian Rapoport took to the Twitter to relay the news to his followers:

As noted in the tweet, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie won't end his recruitment process after his visit in Washington. He will then head to New Orleans to visit with the Saints, who reportedly have an interest in the veteran.

A former first-round NFL Draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2008, Rodgers-Cromartie has played for the Eagles and Broncos to go along with his stints in Arizona and New York.

The two-time Pro Bowl selection is now 31 years old, which isn't exactly considered to be the age most associated with a guy in the prime of his career — especially in the defensive backfield.

Rodgers-Cromartie is still getting action on the field, but after playing and starting in 15 games in 2015, he's only started in 14 of the 30 games he's appeared in over the course of the last two seasons. He was recently released by the Giants after declining to take a pay cut.

The Redskins are looking for cornerback help after they traded away Kendall Fuller to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Alex Smith deal. Rodgers-Cromartie has transitioned to the slot over the last few years, which should make him an ideal candidate to help fill in for Fuller.

But apart from the Redskins and Saints, expect other teams to inquire about his services. He should come relatively cheap at this point in his career, making his value pretty solid for a guy who is likely no longer a dynamic player at his position.
