The Washington Redskins are confident in Dwayne Haskins as their quarterback of the future, but Doug Williams understands he has room for growth. As Haskins enters his second season in the NFL, Williams described what he wants Haskins to do this offseason.

“He’s got to stay in the facility until they run him out of the building,” Williams said via the Redskins official site. “That’s the important thing. All that other stuff shouldn’t matter to Dwayne at this point. It should be, ‘Coach, what can I do? Can I do this? Can I do that?’ until they say, ‘Hey, Dwayne, we’re gonna turn the lights out because we’re going home.'”

Without a doubt, Haskins' rookie season was far from normal for the Redskins. After being selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Haskins was beaten out by Case Keenum for the starting job.

Then, after starting Keenum and Colt McCoy, Haskins would finally make his first career start for the Redskins in Week 9 versus the Buffalo Bills. Considering the circumstances he was playing in, it's tough to judge Haskins in his first season in the NFL.

Nevertheless, Haskins has a better support group in place now with Ron Rivera being hired as the next head coach of the Redskins. At the same time, it appears that Williams is going to be more involved with Haskins this offseason.

Williams, the Redskins senior vice president of player development, realizes what it takes to start at quarterback in the nation's capital. Following a chaotic rookie campaign, Williams wants to see Haskins put in the effort to be a great quarterback in the NFL.
