The Washington Redskins made a surprising move to bring aboard second-year linebacker Reuben Foster after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers due to his involvement in another domestic violence incident.

It was a move that the organization knew that they would receive plenty of backlash for that decision as his alleged actions are inexcusable and deserve a punishment that would see him banned from the NFL. This is the notion that Redskins vice president of player personnel Doug Williams acknowledged was the full awareness of the entire organization when that move was put forth, according to Scott Allen of the Washington Post.

“We knew there was going to be some backlash, and we understand that, and rightfully so,” Williams told Doc Walker during his weekly appearance on The Team 980. “I’ve got six daughters, so it ain’t something I would condone, but at the same time I think we are in the business of at least looking into [his case]. I could sit here, and I won’t, name a bunch of teams that took on players that got a lot of baggage that nobody’s saying anything about. You can’t get into nitpicking what they do and what you do. You gotta look at it from your standpoint. There was a lot of thought that went into it. It wasn’t just a spur of the moment type of thing. We all gathered, we talked about it, we knew there was going to be some risk-reward involved in it.”

It is certainly a tough situation that they are now involved with that doesn't particularly shine a strong light onto the organization for their standards and beliefs. This has given off the public perception that they are willing to overlook these types of actions with the greater importance placed on the talent and impact the player can bring to the field.

This is still a fluid situation where many things still have to be sorted out with the team looking to capitalize on it shifts toward him being pushed away from any of those charges and accusations. However, at this point, there is plenty of evidence that suggests his actions were deemed to be punishable from the law.

Ultimately, only time will tell what will come about Foster in yet another disappointing situation that he once again has put himself in.
