The reshuffling of the Washington Redskins' front office continues. Included in that is the change of Doug Williams' role.

Williams will stay in Washington's front office. On Thursday, he was reassigned out of the player personnel department and will be named Senior Vice President of Player Development. He will report directly to newly hired head coach Ron Rivera.

Doug Williams is a legend within the Redskins franchise,” said Redskins owner Dan Snyder in a statement. “He is excited about this new role and in working with Coach Rivera. Doug is one of the most respected men in our building and I know that he will have an immediate impact on our players.”

Williams has been a member of the Redskins' front office since 2014. The first African American quarterback to play and win a Super Bowl, he is listed as part of the team's 80 greatest players and is in their Ring of Fame.

“After meeting with Dan Snyder, Coach Rivera and Senior Director of Player Development Malcolm Blacken, we all came to an agreement on the vision that we have for the franchise going forward,” said Williams. “I am looking forward to this new opportunity to work with Malcolm and I have always respected his work during my time with the franchise. We both look forward to working with and supporting Coach Rivera in making sure that our players are prepared for life on and off the field.”

In his new role, Williams should have a more hands-on approach to helping the roster rebuild, as he will work directly with Rivera to create a contender in Washington.
