The Madden 20 rookie ratings were released on Monday. Dwayne Haskins came in at a 72. While that's the second-highest rating for a rookie QB (Kyler Murray is a 73), it's not difficult to argue that's pretty low.

Dwayne Haskins definitely seems to believe so – and he's ready to use that “low” rating as motivation.

Players are great at using different things for motivation. One of the classics is when someone underestimates you. This is right in that wheelhouse.

I said it well before the draft and I'll say it again. For my money, Dwayne Haskins is the best QB in the draft class this year. And 72 definitely feels really low.

That being said, I'll come to the defense of Madden and say that they do apparently have a new rating system. Maybe they felt they didn't want to give rookie QBs such high ratings like they've done in the past.

Haskins clearly doesn't care about that though – he's ready to prove he's worth a much higher rating when he takes the field for the Redskins.

Every year it's fun to see how players react to their Madden ratings. Of course, a lot of them will feel they are slighted and want to prove them wrong.

The question in this case is whether or not Dwayne Haskins even gets the chance to do so. The Washington Redskins rookie might not start, as Case Keenum (and possibly Colt McCoy if healthy) will also be competing for the starting spot. Of course, Haskins is the future at the position for them, but that doesn't mean he'll be handed the starting role right away.

If Haskins earns the starting spot, expect to see that rating go up throughout the year.

He's ready to prove them wrong – and he has the talent to do it.
