The Washington Redskins ushered in the era of quarterback Dwayne Haskins against the New York Giants in Week 4. He is now slated to make his first career start against a formidable New England Patriots defense.

The prospect of going up against a team like the Patriots is hardly ideal for a rookie about to make his first start. According to ESPN's John Keim, Haskins is admittedly excited about facing off against quarterback Tom Brady.

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins said it would be “pretty cool” to have his first start vs. New England quarterback Tom Brady. “He went to that team up north. There won't be any love on the field if I do play him. But it's exciting; we're home. Looking forward to it.” Brady, of course, played at Michigan; Haskins played at Ohio State.

Haskins' comments are certainly understandable. There are few ways to make a better statement than managing to put together a solid outing against Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champs. Fortunately, it is encouraging to see that he does not appear to be overwhelmed with all the new changes as of late.

Haskins' career debut got off to an abysmal start after he threw three interceptions against the Giants. Safe to say, the rookie will be facing a much taller task in the Patriots defense this week considering they lead the league in every major category on that side of the ball. The onus will fall on head coach Jay Gruden to avoid putting him in a similar situation as he did in Week 4.
