The Washington Redskins and Dwayne Haskins dropped their Week 4 matchup with the New York Giants. An embarrassing 24-3 blowout puts them at 0-4, and with the New England Patriots next week, it's hard for fans to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

However, if there is a light, that might have begun in Week 4. Dwayne Haskins made his NFL debut. The rookie quarterback was selected with the 15th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and many see him as the longterm answer for Washington.

It wasn't his day on Sunday though. The quarterback had some highlights, but ultimately struggled. He finished the day 9-for-17 with 107 yards and no touchdowns. Although he did have a nice run (finished with 23 yards on two carries), everything was overshadowed by the three interceptions.

Haskins isn't discouraged though. He says there will be “brighter days” ahead in an article by Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post.

“I just knew that my time would be coming and, when the day comes, that I’d be ready for it,” Haskins said. “I didn’t execute the way I wanted to, but the good thing about it is that it hurts, and there [are] going to be brighter days tomorrow. . . . I want to win. I’m going to win. Whatever it takes to win, we will do that. . . . We’re going to change that and win some games. I’ll be here for a while, so get used to seeing me smile up here.”

Haskins and the Redskins will definitely need to look ahead. They need to focus on the positives of the game, and not the negatives. It might be getting hard to do so with an 0-4 record. However, a young quarterback getting his chance to prove himself should definitely provide a spark.

With that in mind, it's hard not to believe Haskins. It's unfair to expect him to enter a game halfway through with very little preparation and impress in his debut.

Like he said, he'll be in Washington for a while. Brighter days are definitely in their future.
