The Washington Redskins are sitting with an 0-3 record after their loss on Monday night to the Chicago Bears. Even with the slow start, Jay Gruden isn't ready to make a quarterback change and will stick with Case Keenum for the time being.

After playing well in the first two games, Keenum wasn't good against the Bears, turning the ball over five times and it made some question if a quarterback change was needed. Gruden said he doesn't think he has given Keenum enough time to play in the new offense.

“Not really, no,” Gruden said when asked if he was considering a change via Pro Football Talk. “I think the most important thing is we have to have some continuity. I can’t be changing people every five minutes here. I’ve got to give Case an ample opportunity to play with these new guys. This is his first time in this offense, really. Donald Penn, Ereck Flowers, their first time in this offense. Terry (McLaurin), Trey Quinn only played two games last year.”

Gruden said he feels like Keenum has all the tools to help this team win games moving forward and that's why he is keeping him under center.

“I’ve made this point before, we’re not going to be perfect but we need to be better and I think we can get better. Otherwise if I didn’t think we had a chance to get better, I would make a change but I feel like Case has the tools to become a very efficient quarterback in this offense and get us some victories here moving forward.”

This is quite the confusing message from Gruden and can't spell good things for Dwayne Haskins and his development. Even if Gruden thinks Keenum can win games now, it's clear after an 0-3 start that it may not be in the Redskins' best interests to be about winning games right now.

Haskins is the future of this team and having him go through his growing pains on the field might be best, but at least right now, Gruden isn't ready to let that happen.
