The Washington Redskins could have been picked for HBO's Hard Knocks this season, and head coach Jay Gruden knows how much would have been on his plate if that would have been the case. While Gruden was a coordinator the Cincinnati Bengals, he was apart of Hard Knocks, and he knows how much extra work that made for Marvin Lewis.

According to Gruden, the head coach has to watch all the final edits before they go to the TV screen, and they have to make sure that they aren't putting any of the players or coaches in a negative light.

“Coach [Marvin] Lewis handled all of the editing and all that stuff,” Jay Gruden told reporters on Monday via Pro Football Talk. “I think it’s probably a lot on the plate for a head coach to be able to handle that because you don’t want to put anything out there that could be a negative light on [what] a player said in a coaching staff meeting or whatever. So, you’ve got to actually make sure you go through and watch the edits, what’s going to be out there. I think it’ll be a great show. I’m sure Jon will handle that, but it’s not easy for them to, you know, handle all that stuff.”

Coaches already have enough on their plate, and the last thing that they want to deal with is an extra camera crew coming in and filming every move of the team.

Coaches don't have a choice if their team is picked though and this year it was Gruden's older brother Jon and the Oakland Raiders who drew the short stick.
