Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden will admit they scouted quarterback Josh Rosen last year. That's all he's saying for now though, as he claims the QB isn't available.

The Washington Redskins have been rumored as a likely landing spot for Josh Rosen for some time now. He's currently the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, but many speculate they could draft a quarterback with the first pick in the draft.

If that's indeed their plan, the Cardinals won't want to keep Rosen on the roster as well. Therefore, the rumors have run wild.

It's hard to believe Jay Gruden 100% here. Cardinals GM Steve Keim already made things shaky at the combine. He said that Rosen was their quarterback “right now”, clearly indicating that things could change.

This led to multiple teams inquiring about the former first-round pick. Many believed the Redskins to be one of them.

It also doesn't help Gruden's case that Washington is absolutely quarterback starved. At the moment they have Case Keenum and an injured Colt McCoy as their likely QBs for the 2019 season. Clearly a move needs to be made in that department soon.

Of course, the Redskins could be hoping for a quarterback in the draft. There's every chance the Cardinals do go a different route and actually are planning on keeping Rosen as their QB of the future.

If that's the case, that's one less team ahead of Washington taking a quarterback. This could leave them with multiple options by the time they pick at number 15 overall.

No matter what happens between now and the draft though, take everything said with a pinch of salt. No team wants to show their hand before they get what they want. It's no surprise Jay Gruden isn't talking about Josh Rosen.

Whether the Washington Redskins want him or not, they definitely want the leverage. Showing their hand would lose them that privilege.
