The situation surrounding the Washington Redskins and left tackle Trent Williams is still murky, with the tackle reportedly not willing to report back to the team thanks to both a contract dispute and his unhappiness regarding the team’s medical staff. When it comes to possible trades, however, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden thinks things won’t ever get that far.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Gruden says that the team has resisted all inquiries on the tackles services, and doesn’t think that he'll get traded. Rapoport also added that, from what he’s heard, Williams is healthy and ready to play, for whatever team that might be.

Things seemingly went south for Williams after a mass was discovered on his head. Initially thought to be malignant, Williams had the mass removed after several surgeries and seems to be unhappy with how the situation was handled. Reports indicate that Williams wants to be traded from Washington, but the team is very staunchly denying any requests.

Scheduled to make nearly $11 million this season, Williams could theoretically hold out into the 2019 regular season, but it’s unknown if he’ll end up doing that. Williams has been fairly quiet throughout this entire ordeal, and everything seems to point to the talented left tackle not wanting to play for Washington at all.

However, Gruden and the front office don’t seem to be willing to trade away such a key player on the team. Whether or not their relationship is salvageable is unknown as of now, but with just two weeks left until the start of the season, we won’t have to wait long to see how this plays out.
