The Washington Redskins made some pretty substantial changes over the NFL offseason. However, the goal to get tight end Jordan Reed as healthy as possible remains the same.

Fortunately, there are optimistic reports coming out of organized team activities. According to ESPN's John Keim, Reed was spotted doing agility drills during practice.

Of course, some minor agility drills are hardly indicative of a promising bill of health. However, it is still encouraging to see that Reed is active and appears to be moving well. It goes without saying that Washington will need all the help they can get this season.

When healthy, Reed is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. His rare combination of size and speed make him a matchup nightmare for defenses from anywhere on the field. Unfortunately, he has had a rough time doing so due to a rash of lingering injuries. It was what ultimately led to him registering just 27 catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns last season. Needless to say, his performance was a far cry from what he enjoyed over the past two years.

Washington has added some key pieces on offense this offseason. Most notably under center with the addition of quarterback Alex Smith. Smith enjoyed plenty of success with his former tight end Travis Kelce. The team is likely hoping he can replicate that production with a healthy Reed this time around. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether or not he can handle the rigors of a full season.
