When Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed is on the field, there is no question he is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. The problem for Reed is that he has dealt with a lot of injury issues over the course of his career and it has kept him off the gridiron.

Reed played only six games last year before he was shut down because of his toe injuries and he has missed 16 games over the previous three years. Reed has had multiple surgeries on his toes since he was shut down last year and that has helped him to finally feel better.

“I didn't feel [like] myself the whole year,” Reed said via ESPN. “That's why I had to get the surgery and have the bone removed. I'm feeling 100 times better.

“I can tell a difference because with the toes it was pain. I had pain all season, all offseason, and that pain was shutting down certain parts of the body that I needed. So you remove the pain and now I'm building my body back up and feeling great again.”

Reed said all of last years offseason was spent trying to get his toe better but it just never happened. The toe injury also later led to problems with his legs and hip. Reed said he is 100 percent now, and he is finally running pain-free again.

“I feel a [180-degree] turnaround; feeling a lot better, much more explosive, much more strong and in better shape,” he said. “So I'm feeling great.”
