The Washington Redskins have undergone some major changes this offseason. This is why they are hoping to rely on some of the longer-tenured players on the roster.

Among them is tight end Jordan Reed. According to John Keim of ESPN.com, Reed feels he is still working to get to 100 percent:

“I feel pretty good man,” Reed said. “I feel good cutting on it. The only thing I have to work on is that burst. … I’ve still got a lot of strengthening to do, explosive work to back to my full potential.”

The update is in line with Reed's progression throughout the offseason. He was adamant about feeling much better this time around than he did at the start of training camp last season. However, it appears he still has much more room to improve.

When healthy, Reed is one of the most dangerous receiving tight ends in the NFL. His rare combination of size and speed makes him a matchup nightmare for defenders. Unfortunately, his career has been plagued by injuries which have prevented him from staying on the field.

This was extremely evident last season when Reed saw little action during the 2017 campaign due to lingering hamstring and toe injuries. As a result, he finished with a career-low 27 receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns in six games before he was placed on injured reserve.

The arrival of quarterback Alex Smith has brought a newfound sense of optimism to Washington. They are hoping to have as many weapons for Smith available in their attempts to bounce back from a tumultuous 2017 campaign.
