Josh Johnson is the new quarterback on the Washington Redskins' roster behind projected starter Mark Sanchez. It has been a rough season for the Redskins at the quarterback position, to say the least.

After allowing Kirk Cousins to walk in free agency last offseason, the Redskins were hoping that Alex Smith would step up in a big way. He played well, but ended up seeing his season cut short due to a gruesome leg injury. Colt McCoy then stepped into the starting role and promptly suffered a broken leg of his own.

Sanchez may be the starter, but there is a good chance that Johnson will see some playing time at some point. There is an interesting number on Johnson that seems hard to believe.

According to a report from Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, this contract with the Redskins is Johnson's 20th deal in the NFL with 12 different teams. He also has played very sparingly throughout his NFL career.

Needless to say, the Redskins are not in a great spot at the quarterback position. There was speculation that they could consider signing Colin Kaepernick, but Johnson ended up being the guy they went with.

In the 29 NFL games that he has played, Johnson has completed 54.2 percent of his pass attempts for 1,042 yards, five touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He has also picked up 274 yards on the ground.

At 32 years old, Johnson has found no shortage of suitors to sign him to training camp deals or even as a backup or third-string option. Washington is just the latest in a long line of teams with interest in him despite very little production on the field.

Expect to see Johnson take over as Sanchez's primary backup. If Sanchez gets hurt or simply struggles in a big way, Johnson could throw his first pass since 2011.
