Josh Norman, the all-pro cornerback for the Washington Redskins, had high hopes for his team this season. He believes that the team would have won the Super Bowl if only their quarterback had been healthy. Instead of Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams, it would be Alex Smith and the Redskins.

When reporters asked Norman why he had a simple and concise response.

Norman told TMZ:

“We win the Super Bowl… Why not?”

The Redskins were in first place in the NFC East when Smith originally broke his right leg. It was during the third quarter of a home game against the Houston Texans on November 18th. The team eventually lost 23-21, and Smith was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery on his fibula and tibia.

Smith was then replaced by very subpar players. Colt McCoy got hurt, Mark Sanchez was just terrible, and then they signed Josh Johnson practically off the street. The fact they even won some games is remarkable.

Back in 2018,  Smith signed a huge four-year, $94 million contract extension with the Redskins. The Chiefs had just traded him away to make space for Patrick Mahomes. Smith is on par to make around $42 million in guaranteed money over the next two seasons.

Smith’s career isn’t over quite yet. Thankfully, with modern technology, Smith should have every opportunity to get back on the field. His ability to scramble might be a hindered, however, he should find a way to overcome that.

There is still optimism that Smith will be able to play again. Dan Snyder and the rest of the organization is rooting for him to come back to full form.
