Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman made headlines for his inactivity during the Week 12 win over the Detroit Lions. It appears he may be relegated to doing much of the same this time around against the Carolina Panthers.

Reports suggested that Washington initially planned to make Norman inactive before a sudden change-of-heart on the morning before kickoff versus Detroit. Head coach Bill Callahan provided come clarification on their plans for him on the road in Week 13, via JP Finlay of NBC Sports.

Bill Callahan at the podium – Says Josh Norman is not a starter this week but he will play in Carolina.

Although Callahan indicates that Norman will play, it remains to be seen just what kind of role they envision him in. The veteran went viral for standing completely still during an extra point by the Lions. As a result, it is safe to assume it may not be on special teams.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding what had transpired to make Washington plan to sit Norman out before suddenly reversing course on their decision. It is no secret that he has endured his fair share of struggles throughout the 2019 NFL season and a lingering hamstring injury has certainly not done him any favors for a potential resurgence. Regardless, the recent turn of events only raises more questions about his future with the team.

With Norman slated to take on a reserve role, cornerback Fabian Moreau is slated to get the start once again. Washington is not playing for much at this point in the year with a 2-9 record. This could be why they have opted to get some of the younger players on the roster involved at key positions down the final stretch.
