Washington Redskins safety Landon Collins had a standout season last year with the New York Giants and Pro Football Focus has taken notice.

According to PFF Collins finished last season with 23 run stops which was the second highest total among safeties.

Collins is regarded as one the better safeties in the league, but evidently, the Giants didn't think they needed him anymore. He was in trade rumors before the trade deadline last year and the Giants let him walk during free agency.

“I'm starting a new chapter and I'm on a good team,” Collins told Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com. “When I left the Giants, I was kind of heartbroken. I loved the Giants. When I started there, I wanted to finish there.

“I wanted to be one of those guys to finish his career on one team. They didn't give me the opportunity to do that. It's a business. I can't do anything about that.”

The Giants never even gave Collins an offer which is a surprise because Collins was one of the bright spots on the team's defense last year.

One team's loss is another teams gain and that is what the Redskins are getting in Collins. He should sure up a secondary that at times struggled last year and also will come into the box to stop the run.

The good news for Collins is that he is going to get a chance two times a year to get some revenge on the Giants.

“I've got a lot of motivation for the next six years,” Collins said.

With Collins added to the mix, the Redskins are hoping to finally find more consistency on defense.
