After securing a huge $84 million contract from the Washington Redskins, Landon Collins is ready to begin recruiting other teammates to join the Washington secondary, starting with superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Yesterday afternoon, Collins sent out a tweet to Ramsey (via 247 Sports), telling him that if he doesn’t want to be on a team where their Vice President is questioning his work ethic, he can come to Washington.

“If you don’t want to be on a team where your VP…. is all in the media, all in your mentions, talking about voluntary workouts and questioning your work ethic…then come to the Redskins (Suge Knight voice).”

The tweet itself was in response to comments made by Tom Coughlin – the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Jaguars – in which he called out players absent from the Jaguars’ voluntary offseason workouts. Ramsey, who was among one of the players who decided to skip out on the workouts to stay at home with his family.

Coughlin’s comments, on which he spoke about counting on players and building a team, have obviously riled up Ramsey and other players, with NFLPA President Eric Winston even stepping in to speak on behalf of Ramsay.

“Our CBA definition of voluntary is the same as the actual definition of voluntary and prohibits anyone from threatening players to participate in voluntary workouts,” Winston said. “This is precisely the reason players negotiated strict work rules and bright lines when it comes to offseason activities. We know, from experience, that not all coaches and executives will adhere to them and we always pursue any violations to protect our rules.”

Although Ramsey still has two years left on his rookie deal, the Redskins would have to trade for him to make that secondary a reality. In the meantime, expect to see more drama unfold as the NFL draws closer to its training camp period.
