Defensive end Marcus Smith II will be heading into his new home, four months after being cut by the Seattle Seahawks.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the 26-year old is reportedly signing with the Washington Redskins.

Smith entered the league in 2014 after being picked in the first round 26th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he never developed into the defender his original team envisioned him to be.

In three seasons with the Eagles, he took part in 37 games, but did not start any of those. He recorded a total of 18 tackles and four sacks during his stay there.

After being waived by the Eagles in July 26, 2017, the Seahawks took their chances with Smith and signed him two days later.

Smith was given a chance to shine by the Seahawks. Regular starter Cliff Avril suffered a season-ending neck injury that allowed Smith to have more playing time.

Smith's tenure with the Seahawks, however, did not last long as he was released last August. In 14 games with the team, he recorded 14 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

The Redskins are currently hampered by injuries. They've already lost starting quarterbacks Alex Smith and Colt McCoy due to leg injuries.

Linebacker Cassanova McKinzy also went down with a torn pectoral that he suffered in their Thanksgiving loss against the Dallas Cowboys.

Recently, the Redskins are taking a look at potential free agents that can fill the void in their lineup. They had just recently signed quarterback Josh Johnson to be the team's second signal-caller.
