Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Sanchez is pleased to have some carryover in the offensive playbook from his tenure with the New York Jets.

Sanchez was forced to step under center in Monday night's 28-13 loss to the Philadephia Eagles after starting quarterback Colt McCoy suffered a broken leg.

Of course, it was another string of bad luck for the Redskins at the quarterback position, as Alex Smith was also ruled out for the season after breaking his leg several weeks ago.

That means that Sanchez is now Washington's top option in the passing game, and the veteran coach seems to be embracing the familiarity of the Redskin's offensive system.

From ESPN's Redskins reporter John Keim:

“There's a ton of carryover and that's nice to have,” Sanchez said. “It's really learning a slightly different dialect of a language you already know. Some words carry over. Some don't. … It's nice having people who have been around so it's not a complete overhaul.”

Sanchez has certainly had his critics throughout his career, but he wasn't terrible in going 13 of 21 for 100 yards while throwing an interception against the Eagles.

However, the problem that Washington now runs into is that its hopes of a playoff spot will ride on Sanchez's ability to find his early-career form.

The Redskins sit at 6-6 on the year, and there are several tough games left on the schedule.

Sanchez and company will host the New York Giants this weekend before back-to-back road trips to Jacksonville and Tennessee.

Washington will wrap up the regular season on Dec. 30 against the Eagles.
