The Washington Redskins have dominated the headlines for the past few weeks. First the name change controversy, now the serious allegations of sexual misconduct. At the center of it all has been one man – Redskins owner Dan Snyder.

The name change issue didn't necessarily put pressure on Snyder to sell the team. On the contrary, it was going to be a step toward the right direction, whether or not his hand was merely forced. However, with the latest allegations of widespread workplace misconduct, there's much greater public clamor for Snyder to take accountability. Unfortunately, I'd advise all the angry fans to lower their pitchforks.

According to a report from ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Dan Snyder isn't going anywhere.

“Dan Snyder is going to own the team and that's not gonna change,” ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter minutes after the Post released its piece.

The allegations never directly implicated Snyder himself. But a handful of members within his inner circle were name-dropped in the reports.

The man has owned the Washington Redskins for more than two decades. And while Schefter doesn't believe that he'd be forced to sell, he may still have to deal with strict penalties. But losing a few draft picks or possibly a monetary fine won't really be close to equal retribution. Changes have to come from within the organization itself.

“It goes beyond that in this point in time,” Schefter said. “It goes to making fundamental changes that are required in our society, of things that are completely unacceptable that have gone on allegedly in their organization from these various individuals. This is up to the organization to clean this up.”

Dan Snyder may still be allowed to keep the team he's owned since 1999. But he's going to have to lead the charge in changing how things are run in Washington D.C.
