After the bombshell report by The Washington Post which detailed the Washington Redskins’ toxic work culture, the NFL has chosen to remain silent for now.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the league has not responded to queries regarding the said report. As of writing, the NFL hasn’t released any form of a statement, too. This is a worrisome behavior from the league that responds quickly when one of its players faces allegations of bad behavior. Florio wrote:

“The NFL has not responded to multiple requests for comment from PFT, and the league has provided no statement of any kind on any issue that, at  a minimum, should trigger scrutiny under the Personal Conduct Policy — and should prompt the league to acknowledge that fact, the same way that it routinely does when a player faces allegations of misconduct.”

NFL owners will meet on Friday to discuss matters in relation to the 2020-21 season amid the coronavirus pandemic. Reports reveal that the owners will specifically talk about the rules for training camp.

There’s a chance that they might discuss the controversy surrounding the Redskins and its owner Dan Snyder. However, Florio believes that the league will likely survey fan and media reaction first before drafting out a statement.

Be as it may, the NFL’s silence on the matter is not giving them brownie points. As the adage goes, silence is complicity. And the NFL needs to speak up immediately if they don’t want this whole episode to balloon and explode over their face.
