Washington Redskins wide receiver Terry McLaurin had a successful rookie season in 2019, but he wants to be one of the best wideouts in the NFL going forward.

The 24-year-old told ESPN's John Keim he wants to be seen as a “dominant” force at the position.

McLaurin was one of the only real offensive threats for Washington at the skill positions.

The third-round pick averaged close to 16 yards per reception and scored seven touchdowns, finishing the year as Washington's leading receiver. McLaurin also paced the team in targets (93), finishing with 35 more than the second-most targeted pass-catcher, running back Chris Thompson.

There is no doubt McLaurin enters the 2020 campaign as the No. 1 receiver in the nation's capital.

The Redskins were mostly inactive in the free-agent receiver market, and drafted just one wide receiver in Antonio Gandy-Golden. There is a chance former Memphis hybrid Antonio Gibson is also split out wide, but the pressure is still on McLaurin to produce at a high level.

Much of McLaurin's individual development might also depend on that of second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

Haskins went 2-5 in seven starts, completing 58.6 percent of his pass attempts and throwing just seven touchdowns against seven interceptions. But he hardly benefited much from a lack of protection and a slew of injuries at the skill positions.

The Redskins took edge-rusher Chase Young with the No. 2 overall pick in the hopes he can be a transformative player for their defense. But McLaurin is hoping to be equally as impactful for Washington's offense in the coming years.
