The Washington Redskins searched far and wide for a trade involving Trent Williams and finally found a trade partner on Saturday. Following his departure, Williams thanked the Redskins after being traded to the San Francisco 49ers.

Even though there was a divide between Williams and the Redskins, it's nice to see him be classy toward his former franchise. On the other hand, there's no doubt that he's ecstatic to join the reigning NFC champions in San Francisco.

Back in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Redskins selected Williams with the No. 4 pick out of Oklahoma. As a first-round pick, he had a ton of expectations upon his arrival in the nation's capital. It's safe to say he exceeded those expectations in his 10 seasons in Washington.

While he didn't play in 2019, Williams was a dominant left tackle for the Redskins for nine consecutive seasons. Within the nine seasons that he actually played in, the former first-round pick made seven Pro Bowls.

Of course, after sitting out in 2019, it remains to be seen if Williams is still the same player he was back in 2018. But knowing the competitor that the veteran left tackle is, it's tough to believe that he hasn't been working tirelessly as he's prepared himself to join a new team.

Before he joins the 49ers, Williams put together a remarkable career with the Redskins. Nonetheless, he's ready to begin a new phase of his career in San Francisco. Despite thanking the Redskins organization, there's no doubt that Williams is eager to get the chance to play against Washington.
