The saga between Trent Williams and the Washington Redskins has been one that's frustrated the team's fans. The saga has progressed to new heights as the team looked to involve the league and look into Williams' medical condition.

Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk revealed what could possibly become the biggest chapter in this battle of wills between the disgruntled tackle and the Redskins. They reportedly requested a joint NFL and NFLPA committee to look into the records and care provided to Williams.

The team's statement reads:

“The Washington Redskins have requested that the NFL’s Management Council convene a joint committee with the NFLPA to review the medical records and the medical care given to Trent Williams. We have requested this review under the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement that provides for an independent third party review of any NFL player’s medical care. The Redskins continue to prioritize the health and well-being of our players and staff. Due to healthcare and privacy regulations, we are unable to comment further at this time. We look forward to the joint committee’s results.”

The call for an investigation stemmed from Williams' accusation that the team knew he had cancer but didn't provide treatment and urged him to play on.

“It was cancer, I had cancer,” Williams told reporters like Lorenzo Reyes Thursday. “I had a tumor removed from my skull, attached to my skull. It got pretty serious for a second. I was told some scary things from the doctor. It was definitely nothing to play with. It was one of those things that changes your outlook on life.”

If this aggravates even further, there's little to no question that the concerned parties may take it to court. Fans are just hoping for a quick resolution regardless if Williams stays or not.
