The Washington Redskins are reportedly a possible destination for former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell.

There's no doubt that Bell is expected to be one of the top targets on the free agent market, with plenty of speculation as to where he could land.

However, in addition to what seems to be the favorite in the New York Jets, it appears that the Redskins may be one of the teams that has the best chance at signing the talented back.

From NBC Sports' Peter King:

New York, with $116 million in cap room and the motivation to spend with a GM who has to win this year, is the favorite to sign Bell. I can’t see Bell to the Colts except at a discount, and Bell will be motivated to make up what he lost last year (which he’ll never do). Smart football people think the Jets are the leaders in the Bell derby, with Washington and Miami possible too.

Obviously, the Redskins have a lot of areas of need this offseason, and they've already tried to find multiple options at quarterback by trading for Case Keenum.

But signing an elite running back like Bell would be a huge step in the right direction, and it would certainly give Washington a shot at getting back to the playoffs.
